Fly Tying: A new Sunday tradition

A new Sunday tradition in the making.

I’ve figured out that the only way to have time to tie flies, is to make time to tie flies.

I’ve decided that from this point forward, Sunday mornings will be dedicated to fly tying. That means that unless I’m actually fishing, or something major is happening that needs my attention, I’m going to tie flies on Sunday mornings.

I typically have 3-4 hours on Sunday mornings totally to myself. The wife is working and the little one is sleeping. In theory, it sounds like a win/win for the fly tying production to happen.

I’ve got some new materials to try out and some fly boxes that are looking rather empty these days. I don’t like empty fly boxes; no respectable fly fishing geek would, so it’s time to change that.

Now I just need to find the time to actual fish with those flies, but that’s an entirely different story for a different day.
