The Summer Solstice

News and Notes from

The brutal Summer stint is upon us.

Summer in the South is no joke. It’s hot, and just the thought of stepping outside can usually get the sweat rolling down the cranium of my bald head. It’s an unfair experience for those of us that like to be outdoors.

Trout fishing is all but out of the question most days. When it’s this hot, and you want to fish, it’s early mornings chasing warm water species, if you even venture out at all.

I’m pretty much on a fishing hiatus at this point. I’m wishing for Fall while I lose a few pounds sweating my ass off out by the swimming pool. On days like these, I keep the cold Miller High Life’s close at hand while moving the grill to the shadiest spot I can find in the yard.

I’ve barely even had any vise time honestly. I need to be tying up my Fall arsenal but it just hasn’t been possible lately. I’ve gotten a few new materials in though, so I’m looking forward to sitting down and cranking out some flies that I’ve got in mind.

But don’t worry, I’ve got some plans in place. I’m working on some video stuff and hoping to get some gear reviews up on the blog soon. I’ve wanted to start producing some videos for a while now, and using this time to iron it out and do it makes sense.

For now, I’ll do what we do during Summer; I’ll sweat it out and hope for the best.
