The neverending quest

News and Notes from

The latest happenings headed into the new year.

It’s time to get rolling again. It’s been a crazy few months, a great holiday season and a really strange Winter. I’ve been doing well and hustling as always, with very little fishing in the mix.

Per usual, I’m still around and still on that neverending quest to fish more, tie more and enjoy the outdoors more.

I’ve wanted to wait until the holidays were over before jumping back into the blog. I knew time would be scarce and I knew that this blog would get very little attention. Now that we’re settling down to fight out the rest of the Winter, I’m ready to get back to what I love.

On the fishing front

I haven’t fished in months, partly due to being entirely too busy with my job. Careers are one of those things that you work really hard to establish, but it will fucking eat you alive if you let it.

I’d love to say that I’ve been hitting the river here and there, but I haven’t. I think that will change soon and I’m looking forward to breaking out the waders once again. It’s been too long.

On the tying front

Remarkably, I’ve been getting some fly tying in lately. I’m actually working on a new table setup for my fly tying and I’m hoping to have something workable here shortly. I’ve been tying enough to keep my skills up to par, but not anywhere near what I’d like to be doing.

The holidays brought some fresh new materials my way and I’ve been playing around with some cool new patterns as well.

New blog format

I’ve been considering revamping the blog as I move into 2016. Being a designer/developer for a living, I’m constantly tinkering with design and code. That typically translates over to my personal projects as well. This here blog you’re reading might get a facelift and new format in early 2016. I’ve got some ideas on what I want and how I want this blog to represent me going forward. I also want to incorporate more of my work and photography into this blog, so that should be fun.

This blog has always been personal, and I really plan to keep it that way. I’d like to move more towards a personal look and feel as well. I’ve tried the rehashing news and just sharing what other “news” blogs out there share. It’s more trouble than it’s worth, and it’s not sustainable.

New outings

I’m ready for some new adventures. Now that our little one is almost 3, she is getting to the point where we can do more things together. That means more things outdoors. We’re cranking up hitting the local parks and trails, because she absolutely loves to be outdoors, almost as much as I do.

My area is absolutely full of beautiful scenery and amazing trails. I’ve always enjoyed hiking (usually to a fishing spot), but now that the little one is getting a little older, she is ready too. As weather permits, I think we’ll be getting out more and checking out some amazing places around here.

2016, here we come

“I’m not sure where I’m headed, but it will be fun getting there.”

I hope you all had a great Christmas with friends and family, I know I sure did. As we move into 2016, I hope you guys are making plans to do something new, try new things or just get out more like I am.

We’re all too fucking busy these days, and it’s hard to stop and just enjoy things every once and a while. I’ve pledged that 2016 will be different and I hope you’ve got some similar plans. Whatever you’re doing, enjoy it, and keep checking in on me, as I plan to enjoy it as well.
