Journal: My outlook for 2016

My thoughts on life, fly fishing and living.

A quick entry on my outlook for 2016. | Authentic Fly FishingI must say, 2015 was certainly less than stellar on the fly fishing and fly tying front. I only fished probably about 20 times all year, and spent much of the year traveling or hunkered down behind a desk being a company man.

I have vowed that 2016 will be different, but different in ways that truly mean something. Sometimes you have to just shoot for small wins in order to really feel like you accomplished something. For 2016, I’m keeping a modest outlook and just a few simple resolutions.

More fishing & tying

This one goes without saying really. 2015 was so rough for both of these areas that 2016 can only get better. I’m working on a better process for tying that I think will allow me to tie more often in smaller increments.

For the fishing, my 2016 goal is to fish at least twice a month in trout waters and least once a week in local pond/lake waters. I’m also planning to hit new waters this year in both North Carolina and Georgia.

Revamped blog & blog posts

This here blog is going through some changes in look and feel, along with a brand new logo that just debuted. So far, so good, but expect some better content in the near future and certainly more consistent posts.

I’ll be focusing much more on fly tying this year, as well as highlighting some other awesome fly tying peeps. I’ll also be delving into more outdoor gear stuff and posting more reviews and first looks into gear.

Family outings

Our daughter is almost 3 now, and the time has come that she can enjoy many of the same outdoor activities that we do. Expect plenty of hiking, camping and outdoor stuff from me here on the blog and on Instagram.

Family time is extremely important, and something that 2015 didn’t provide a ton of. This is the one that I’m looking forward to the most.

How about you? What’s the outlook for 2016? Drop me a comment below and tell me about it!
