The Madam X is one of my favorite flies. It’s a perfect bug for many different situations and conditions, and it can one of the most productive flies in your box.

You’ll find a ton of different variations of this fly out there, and you should experiment with variations yourself. I tend to only vary the body material, using a dubbing instead of the antron or thread body that is typically seen on this fly.

I typically tie these in size 10 and 12 but even a size 8 works pretty well. Color these to match what is in your area and give them a try!
