The basics of learning the pinch wrap

The pinch wrap is a technique that is essential to properly tying flies. When it comes to attaching hair and other materials to your hook, it can tend to want wrap around the shank, causing your materials to get out of hand quickly.

Typically, this problem happens because there is not enough tension on the material when it gets tied down. Other times, it could be because there were not enough wraps to properly secure the material to the shank.

The pinch wrap can solve that problem.

The Pinch Wrap method is a technique you’ll most certainly want to learn if you haven’t already. These two videos gave me a much better understanding of what it is and how to properly apply it to fly tying.
