The setup for 2014

It’s hard to believe that 2014 is already here and we’re several days in. 2013 was a great year for me and 2014 is going to be even better. Here is a quick rundown of what I am hoping to accomplish in 2014…

More fishing, new locations

I didn’t get to fish nearly as much in 2013 and I am changing that in 2014. Having a baby puts a hold on pretty much everything in life and that includes fishing.

In 2014, I plan on fishing much more often. I also plan on fishing some new locations in my area that I have simply not been to. We have some of the most beautiful streams in South Carolina and in 2014, I plan to fish several more of them.

Fly tying

I’ve decided that 2014 is going to be the year that I learn to tie my own flies. I’m getting all of the stuff together now and I’m really close to getting rolling. It’s the next logical step in this addiction and one that I am seriously looking forward to.

I’ve also decided that in 2014, I will only fish with flies that I have personally tied. This does two things, 1. it makes me learn to tie my favorite flies and 2. it gives me much more motivation to learn tying and getting out there to catch fish on flies that I have tied.

Monthly giveaways

I’m starting a monthly giveaway here on the blog. It may be something small, something someone donated, some flies I’ve tied or whatever. I think it will be great to do something monthly to help spread the word about this site and also get a chance to meet up with new people online.

The first giveaway is coming this week, so be sure you’re following me on Instagram at @fisherousdotcom to get in on the action.

I wish all of you guys the best in 2014 and I hope all of you are off to a pretty stellar start!
